There were a few things certain members of staff at CEJ were blissfully unaware of before the last few months.
Bluetooth speakers. Amazon firesticks. Digital watches*. Those days are no more. What’s happened? New boy Pete has happened, that’s what.
Not only has he lowered the average age in the office by a good decade – until his birthday last week he was less than half Bryan’s age – but has also dragged one or two of his new co-workers kicking and screaming out of the technological dark ages. Pete has also introduced his fellow CEJ-ers to a whole host of new words and phrases. Who knew that “peck” could mean a pain in the backside?
It’s not all been one way traffic, however. Jo, Bryan and Ben have been peppered with more questions than Theresa May in the House of Commons, ranging from the sensible (perfectly acceptable queries about work-related issues) to the not-quite so sensible (“Pinot Grigio – is that wine?”)
There have also been some priceless moments guaranteed to be brought up again at opportune Pete asking for “three pints of American Ipper” at the bar during the recent business awards (he was trying to order I.P.A.) and other incidents which it would be just too cruel to put on the internet.
All in all, though, his first few months have been an unqualified success. Quite honestly we don’t know how we managed without him and we’re sure it will only get better.
Welcome to the team, Pete.
*only kidding. We’re not that old.
