It’s not looking good for Coops Warriors. Jam’in allstars look less like stars and more like damp squibs and as for Lids on Toure… well, the less said about their performances lately the better.
What are we talking about? The CEJ Fantasy Football League, of course! There’s just three weeks to go until the end of the season and Dave Jones, Gareth Cooper and our very own Ben Howarth are currently propping up the table. Someone’s got to do it, so well done chaps for taking a bullet for the rest of the league.
Up at the business end of the league, the race for the title and the £100 prize is tighter than Dr Tight McTight, professor of Tightness at Oxford University or, as Sir Alex Ferguson once had it, it’s squeaky bum time.
Sam Willoughby’s Baines on Toast is still holding onto the Leicester City slot at the summit – we’re saying it’s the closest the Everton player is likely to come to silverware this season – with Christopher Ward’s AFC Akinfenward taking the Tottenham position in second.
This weekend’s matches could be crucial, with the performance of Southampton’s Shane Long against Tottenham’s Harry Kane crucial to the outcome. The two top teams both field a pretty lethal looking front line-up of Man City’s Sergio Aguero and Liverpool’s Daniel Sturridge, with AFC adding Kane and Baines on Toast preferring Long. Let’s not forget Matthew Ridd, either, with his Rafa’s Goatie side still very much in it in third.
If this season has proved anything it’s that there’s no predicting what can happen in the Premiership, but we reckon it’s too late for Bryan and his Legends side to make a dash for the title. Down in 15th, he’s looking like he’s safe from relegation but as Jimmy Hill once said, it’s a funny old game, football….
