THIS will be our last blog (honest!) about being nominated for this year’s Wirral Business Awards, which were held at Thornton Manor on Friday night.
With hosts Pauline Daniels and BBC Radio Merseyside’s Roger Phillips keeping the guests appraised of the Liverpool v Chelsea score from the stage and the Peroni and Prosecco flowing freely, a splendid time was had by all.
It was an especially memorable night for our new boy Pete, who was forced to spend the evening in between his new boss and his old one when the CEJ contingent were joined at their table by fellow nominee Phil McKeown of Hillyer McKeown! Needless to say, any concerns he might have had were unnecessary ones – Phil was as disappointed to have lost Pete as we are delighted to have added him to the team.
Just making it into the final four of the Financial & Professional Services Award section – where we eventually lost out to MD Insurance – was a great honour and it was fantastic to hear the kind words the judges said about CEJ, our hassle-free approach to helping contractors and innovative use of our app.
As Bryan put it: “MD Insurance were worthy winners. They have more than 300 employees and offices in Wirral, Leeds, Wolverhampton, London and Cyprus! We are already planning recruiting a few hundred more employees and opening offices in Ibiza and the Bahamas just so we can improve our chances next year!”
The evening ended with Pete heading straight to the dancefloor, closely followed by Bryan, Jo while the security team’s attempts to enforce the “no drinks on to the dancefloor” rule ending abruptly when the Typhoo delegation scattered hundreds of teabags across the dancefloor.
What a night!
