We’re sure it hasn’t escaped your notice that this week has been officially Great British Pie Week.
Now we like a good pie here at CEJ – which means that most weeks could be pie week as far as we’re concerned. Bryan, Jo and Ben all go misty-eyed when asked to name their favourite pies (“hot or cold?”), with much debate raging over the merits of flaky pastry, short-crust pastry and good old-fashioned suet. Pie charts?
Now they’re not normally quite so interesting. Except now. Because now, the pie chart showing the results of the annual CEJ client survey is in. So without further ado, let’s have a look at the scores on the doors…
Overall, how do you rate the service provided?
Excellent 55%, Very Good 31%, Good 12%, Poor 0%, Very Poor 0%
It's fantastic that these scores are so high, but we’re always looking to improve. As you will see under the other headings below, we have some exciting developments in store for the next 12 months to make our service even better.
Help with starting up your company
Appointing Jo as our dedicated Client Manager in the summer has clearly paid off! We’re also on the verge of unveiling our new online Help Centre which will help answer questions about your new company 24/7.
Help with bookkeeping and how to take earnings from your company
The invaluable Mrs Johnston has been a huge help in this area too – and we’re confident that the upcoming Help Centre will help us support our clients 24/7 by answering questions about completing bookkeeping, what expenses can be claimed and more.
We are also looking to introduce help videos and there is even a CEJ app in development which will allow clients to calculate their mileage using GPS, raise invoices and access their bookkeeping.
Support with tax issues
Jo and Bryan have been grinning like the proverbial Cheshire cats since this particular set of results came in! But we’re far from resting on our laurels – we have also introduced tax saving blogs which will continue to address key tax issues. The aforementioned Help Centre will give additional guidance on tax issues whenever and wherever clients need it.
Not bad, but clearly an area that we need to improve on. In the next few months we will introduce a full tax review for each and every client as part of the year-end process. We currently do this internally but we will soon put this together in a report and share it with each client. This will look at every possible tax saving opportunity for each client to make sure they are as tax-efficient as possible.
Ease of use of bookkeeping software
We understand that when it comes to bookkeeping, ease of use is paramount – so in time for April’s new tax year, we will introduce a brand new bookkeeping spreadsheet.
This will be simpler and clearer but have the useful additions of estimating both the new dividend tax and personal student loan repayments. It will also be accessible through our new phone app.
Meeting tax and accounts deadlines
We’re aware of the importance of deadlines when it comes to tax, so we’re determined to make this score even better. Our new app will not only have a section devoted to Key Deadlines, it will include a feature allowing clients to take a photo of HMRC or Companies House letters and email them to us in seconds, leaving us to take care of the rest to ensure all deadlines are met.
How likely are you to recommend CEJ?
Referrals are the lifeline of our business so we’re thrilled with this score – we strive to perfect our services so clients will be so pleased they will recommend us to others. If you’re happy with what we do and know somebody who could benefit from getting in touch with us, it’s worth letting them know – our Premium Referrer Scheme enables existing clients to earn £100 for everyone they recommend who signs up with us as a new client.
A huge thanks to everyone who took part in the survey and enjoy the remainder of Great British Pie Week.
